Premier Paver Patio Builder in Metairie, LA
Most backyards in Metairie spend half the year as soggy, unusable grass or cracked concrete. At CMC’s Services, we turn those troublesome yards into solid, practical outdoor living areas that actually hold up to South Louisiana rain and ground movement. Over 11 years of working with local clay and swampy subsoil taught us exactly what it takes to build hardscapes that stay level for the long haul.
Hardscaping Built for South Louisiana Yards
Putting stonework into a Metairie backyard isn’t just about picking out a pretty color. Our soil moves, holds onto water, and shifts every time we get a heavy Gulf rainstorm. We focus heavily on sub-base preparation—digging deep enough, using geotextile fabric, and compacting heavy aggregate—so your pavers sit firm. By using interlocking stones instead of single concrete pours, your outdoor space can flex with normal ground movement without snapping down the middle.
Custom Patios
We build backyards tailored to how you actually use your space. Whether you need room for a heavy outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, or just a dry spot for table and chairs, we handle everything from turf removal to the final joint sand sweep.
Walkways & Interconnecting Paths
Connecting your back door to a pool, shed, or driveway takes more than a simple stepping-stone trail. We lay durable paths designed for heavy foot traffic that stay level and clean, keeping mud off your shoes after a rain.
Paver Driveways
Vehicles put serious stress on any surface. We engineer driveway bases using thick, interlocking pavers that spread wheel weight evenly. That means no sag spots under truck tires and no unsightly cracks down your entrance.
Outdoor Kitchens & Living Areas
If you’re building out a grill station, seating wall, or fire pit area, the foundation under it needs to carry real weight. We integrate border courses, steps, and heavy-duty stone bases that handle the weight and keep everything tied together visually.
Why Pavers Make Sense in Our Soil
Poured concrete slabs almost always crack in Jefferson Parish. The high clay content in our ground swells when wet and shrinks during dry spells, putting massive tension on rigid concrete. Interlocking pavers work differently. Each stone sits on a compacted gravel bed with slight flex in the sanded joints, absorbing soil movement without fracturing. Plus, if you ever need to dig up a utility line buried underneath your yard, you can lift out individual pavers and put them right back when the repair is finished. Try doing that with a cracked slab without leaving an ugly patch job behind.

Why Choose CMC’s Services for Paver Patios in Metairie
We aren’t out-of-town storm chasers or quick-turn crews. We’ve spent over a decade working right here in the area, learning how local yards drain and how fast wet subsoil can ruin a weak foundation.

Process
Our Process
How We Build It
A good stone patio relies on careful steps buried out of sight. Here is how we build every hardscape job from start to finish.
Site Evaluation & Layout
We walk your yard, measure the space, check the ground slope, and talk through stone choices, colors, and border patterns that suit your house.
Excavation & Base Compaction
We dig out the sod and unstable topsoil, lay down heavy geotextile fabric to keep dirt from mixing with gravel, and pack down crushed limestone in dense layers.
Stone Setting & Borders
Our crew hand-lays each paver according to your pattern, keeping sightlines straight and installing rigid edge restraints around the perimeter so stones can't push outward over time.
Joint Sanding & Sealing
We sweep polymeric sand into the gaps, run a plate compactor over the surface to lock stones together, and apply a breathable sealant that keeps weeds and algae from taking over.

CMC Services just completed an amazing project covering our entire front of our house including new concrete driveways. The project involved demolition of all existing cement and grass with a new design for two separate driveways instead of the former circular driveway plus the addition of turf and decorative cement squares across the entire front and two new gardens with new pavers. From the moment we received their estimate last fall to the beginning of the project in February, our project manager, Matt was exceptional to work with and maintained communication with us throughout the entire project. We also spoke with Corey, the owner, several times once the project began and at the time of conclusion. We cannot say enough about how terrific the entire staff of workers were who worked on this project. The workers were polite, responsive, timely and ever so patient with any inquiry or change we made. The two supervisors of the project, Julio for the concrete and framing part, and Carlo for the turf and garden part, demonstrated exceptional leadership with their team of workers. Everything ran completely as scheduled and it was a seamless process. Deliveries of supplies and dumpsters ran just like clockwork to minimize disruption on the street and for our neighbors. We have never been so thrilled with the outcome of any work being done as we have with this project and we have had endless visitors stopping to ask who did the work and how to contact the company responsible for the change because it is so spectacular looking in the entire neighborhood. We LOVE the outcome and would HIGHLY recommend CMC Services for any concrete, landscaping, turf installation, pavers, driveway design and garden work needs. Exceptional quality and exceptional customer service from initial contact to project completion!!!Posted on Google![]()

Questions Homeowners Ask Us
How many days will my yard be torn up?
Most residential jobs take three to five working days once we start digging. The first day or two goes into bobcat work, clearing out grass, digging down to stable subsoil, and packing in crushed stone. Laying pavers, cutting borders, sweeping sand, and sealing take another two days. If weather hits or we run into buried roots, we tell you immediately rather than rushing through base prep.
Why not just pour a slab of concrete?
Concrete slabs are rigid. In South Louisiana clay, ground movement is guaranteed. When soil shifts under concrete, the slab snaps, leaving long cracks that hold dirt and grow weeds. Paver systems contain hundreds of small joints filled with sand. When the ground underneath moves, the individual stones adjust slightly without cracking. You get a far more resilient surface that looks better and lasts longer.
Do you handle jobs all across Metairie?
Yes. We work throughout Metairie, LA, and surrounding Jefferson Parish neighborhoods. Working locally means we can quickly visit your yard, run accurate site measurements, and check elevation changes in person. Call us at (504) 329-0791 to set up a site visit.
Which pavers handle summer heat and downpours best?
High-density concrete pavers and natural stone perform best in our climate. They withstand heavy downpours without flaking or washing away. We usually recommend lighter grey, tan, or charcoal tones so the stone stays manageable under bare feet during July and August. A quality sealer applied right after installation prevents green algae and mold from creeping into the stone’s pores.
What kind of maintenance does a paver patio need?
Maintenance is low, but you can’t ignore it completely. Keep leaf clutter and grass clippings swept off so organic tannins don’t stain the stone. A quick spray with a garden hose cleans off general dirt. Every two to three years, plan on topping off the sand in the joints and putting down a fresh coat of sealer to stop weed growth and keep moisture out.
Can we match new paths or a driveway to the patio?
Absolutely. Many clients start with a backyard patio and extend the look to side paths, front step landings, or the driveway. We bring stone samples right to your driveway so you can match textures, colors, and border styles. Tying everything together creates a clean, intentional look across your entire property.
How do you keep water from pooling against the house?
Water management is priority number one in local yards. When building the base, we set a deliberate slope—usually about one inch of drop for every four to eight feet—slanted away from your house foundation. If your yard sits in a low spot where water naturally collects, we can tie in catch basins, channel drains, or French drains directly into the hardscape base before laying stone.
What determines the price of a patio build?
Total square footage is the main factor, but access to the yard plays a big role too. If we can get machinery through a wide gate, prep moves faster than if we have to wheelbarrow material through a narrow side alley. Other factors include the stone style, site prep depth, built-in features like sitting walls or steps, and drainage work. We give itemized estimates upfront so you see where every dollar goes.
